I am a trained biochemist with particular interest in chemical biology and membrane protein research. I am striving to understand how conformational rearrangements in integral membrane proteins are regulated and how they translate information through biological membranes. For that I am using genetic code expansion in incorporate reactive non-canonical amino acids for cross-linking and fluorescence modification. In particular, I am focusing on fluorescence-based techniques such as ensemble and single molecule FRET to study structural dynamics of GPCRs at high spatial and temporal resolution. Using state-of-the art chemoselective and bioorthogonal chemistries I am currently working as a permanent researcher (CRCN) at the CBS Montpellier (France), trying to improve the precision of smFRET and its applicability to complex systems from membrane mimetics to live cells.
